We believe that our most important asset is keeping our relationship with you for as long as you find that we provide some benefit.
It only makes sense that to maintain your trust we protect and safeguard the personal and credit information that we keep. In this space, we give you more detail about our policies and procedures regarding your privacy, such as what sort of information we collect, how we work with it, how we keep it or delete it, and how you can instruct us to limit our sharing your information.
So far, neither we nor any single customer we know have experienced any problem with privacy whatsoever.
WE DO NOT SELL OR TRANSFER YOUR INFORMATION
Not to anyone, under any circumstances, not for a price or consideration of any kind.
OUR WAYS OF COLLECTING INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
QUERIES FORMS
When sending a query, you are requested to fill in some information such as your name, street address and email address. The purpose of this is merely introductory as we try to ensure that our response will reach an interested person at the other end. We normally do not keep your information at this stage and it is deleted after we responded to your query.
ORDER FORMS
Using our SSL secure server, fax, letter or email you fill in your personal credit card data and phone number as well as your address or even your I.D. number, such as your Social Security number or your European Union tax I.D. We routinely delete your information if the books you ordered are no longer available in the market.
INFORMATION REPORTING SERVICES
We may also collect information from financial institutions or consumer reporting services to verify your identity or credit card standing, in connection to your purchase with your credit card.
WEBSITE DEVICES
Our computer system may use tools known as "cookies", graphic interchange format files (GIFs), or other devices that provide convenience to your visits at our website. These are instruments that help us to recognize you when you come back, and to keep your web session open while you browse throughout the site. A cookie will not, by itself, identify you by name and card number; they are intended to recognize your browser and to provide you with a more personable experience.
MAINTAINING SAFELY YOUR PERSONAL AND CREDIT DATA
It is our policy that only authorized individuals, identified by name, in our organization may have access to all your data in whatever format we receive and keep them. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural checks and controls to safeguard personal information.
When using our secure server, you should know that our Servers are subject to stringent U.S.A. regulations and furthermore they have access to the latest SSL and encryption technologies in the field to protect them. Some customers prefer to send their credit card data in two or three separate regular emails or even "spell" the numbers to avoid detection by any tracking programs seeking series of numbers in the Net. Others, use the fax or a letter.
Our own computers are equipped with the latest updated anti-malware technology, such as viruses, worms, etc. Powerful firewalls can detect any intrusion and prevent unauthorized access to our system.
Physical non-current records are maintained at a secure place for the retention periods established by Law. Then they are shredded and destroyed before disposal.
LIMITS ON OUR SHARING INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
We are not aware of any normal situation in which all your personal and credit data be shared with any other organization outside our group. Furthermore, carriers, financial institutions or other reporting agencies with which we may share information about you or your transactions and experiences with us are subject to strict confidentiality obligations that are normally statutory. Customarily we work by electronic means with financial institutions to obtain credit card authorizations and while doing so, we make sure to adhere to their well-established procedures.
We provide your name and address and sometimes your phone number to the carriers we use to deliver your orders.
You may instruct us not to share your personal information with outside companies for joint marketing purposes. Please be specific about what treatment you want us to regarding each type of data or information. Email or fax your request to that effect.
Please note that we may continue to provide some information in certain circumstances if we believe that disclosure is required or permitted by Law. Such occasions may include our use of another company to help us to provide new or existing services on our behalf such as to respond to requests or communications from you or to offer you products and services, or that we cannot legally do, such as mailing or printing; transaction processing; or to cooperate with regulatory or law enforcement authorities, to resolve consumer disputes, to perform credit/authentication verifications, or for risk control.
AGAINST IDENTITY THEFT
We take seriously this and any other risk however remote it may appear to you. We believe the way we safeguard your information as shown above is an effective means to protect you from identity theft. There are some additional steps that you can take into consideration:
